Plant some cheer!
This is a GREAT time to start gardening! Maybe you've gardened before, or maybe you're just starting out. We can all learn something new about gardening together!
Start your garden with FREE seedlings!
The Carlisle Garden Club and the Carlisle Cheer Project invite the public to receive free vegetable and flower seedlings on Friday, May 22, noon – 6pm, and Saturday, May 23, 10am-4pm. Residents are invited to drive up to the pick-up site and remain in the car while a masked volunteer collects your plant(s) and puts them in the back of your car. Seedlings will be a variety of plants grown and donated by the members of the Garden Club, including annual flowers, vegetables and a surprise or two. If you would like to pre-request a general type of plant, please email Alison Saylor at [email protected]. Indicate vegetable or flower, sun or shade, and soil condition. No guarantee of a specific plant. Delivery will be provided to those who pre-request a plant and are housebound. All others are welcome to drive up, receive a seedling, and plant some cheer!

Plant Annual Flowers to
Plant Vegetables to eat
- Grow somewhere along your front lot line for neighbors to admire or
- Grow where you can see them from your windows
- You can grow them in pots or add some annual flowers to existing beds or create a new garden bed of flowering annual plants that can either remain for the future or revert back to whatever (lawn or mulch?) for next year.
Plant Vegetables to eat
- Create a raised garden bed fenced in against rabbits or perhaps high enough to keep out the deer
- Grow vegetables in pots, perhaps on your deck or patio
- Prepare your pots, site and soil now. Where to get plants and seeds can come later.
- We are working on ways to get seeds and seedlings for those that need help with this aspect of the project.

Notice the mask, gloves and if you look carefully the tick protecting "gators" she is wearing to stay safe. The mixed nuts container holds slow release fertilizer granules to stimulate flower production.
